SCALE & POLISH

Scaling and polishing is the removal of harmful plaque and tartar that is the sole cause of gum disease and decay.
Regular, professional removal together with excellent oral hygiene regimes will keep your mouth healthy and will reduce the need for more intrusive work such as fillings and gum treatments in the future. If plaque and tartar are not present, it will prevent any disease.

AIR POLISHING

Air polishing involves the same removal of all plaque and tartar, but with a more sophisticated stain removal system at the end that replaces a polishing brush and paste. It is delivered by a machine that combines a delicate powder with a jet of air and water that polishes the whole tooth, including the hard to reach areas such as in between crowded teeth and orthodontic appliances such as braces. Air polishing gives the whole tooth surface a sheen shine, eliminating the toughest stains from the toughest to reach places.

Advanced Gum Treatments

When general gum disease has progressed into a more aggressive form, a more in depth type of teeth cleaning is required. This may include local anaesthetic to ensure comfort during having the treatment and a course of antibiotics. Our hygienist will work with you and explain the treatment that is needed after a full assessment. Our hygienist has had 100% success rate with all advanced gum treatments. Every patient that has received this form of treatment has experienced a significant improvement in their oral condition.

CHILDRENS HYGIENE APPOINTMENTS

Childrens hygiene appointments are available at WF Dental Hygiene.
Your child will be taught how to correctly brush their teeth, learn about sugars and foods that contain sugar. They will be taught how to prevent gum disease and decay, whilst receiving a mini scale and polish to get them used to having preventative treatments, therefore minimalizing the need to see the dentist. Good hygiene habits implemented from a young age, should result in no treatments such as fillings being required leading into adulthood.

Adhesive Fillings

Chipped and worn teeth can easily be restored to their former shape, or even an improved shape with no drilling or anaesthetic required. Composite filling material is placed and moulded to replace tooth tissue lost, then smoothed to form a perfectly shaped tooth
